Section 5. Libraries and the Openness of Knowledge: Open Access, Open Science, OER

The section is dedicated to the role of university libraries in developing policies of knowledge openness, supporting Open Science, and ensuring equitable access to scholarly and educational resources. In the context of digital transformation and the spread of artificial intelligence, libraries are becoming key drivers of the principles of Open Science, Open Access, and Open Education by ensuring transparency, accessibility, and the reuse of knowledge.
Special attention is given to:
- the development of open access policies and institutional Open Science strategies in universities;
- the creation, maintenance, and integration of institutional repositories, data repositories, and open archives;
- the development and implementation of Open Educational Resources (OER) as a tool for accessible and inclusive education;
- the management of open research data and FAIR principles;
- legal, ethical, and technological aspects of open knowledge dissemination in the context of AI;
- the role of libraries in fostering a culture of Open Science, academic integrity, and international scholarly cooperation.
The section aims to discuss the library as a strategic center of open knowledge, where innovative digital practices, academic responsibility, and global access to the results of science and education are combined.
